LEADERS OF TOMORROW BATTLE AT SCIENCE BOWL
Redding Electric Utility (REU), in cooperation with the Department of Energy and the Western Area Power Administration hosted the Northern California Regional Science Bowl, Saturday, March 1 at Simpson University. The Science Bowl is a highly competitive education event and academic competition among teams of high school students who compete in an intense question-and-answer game format tournament, grilled on their knowledge in various subject areas such as, astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth sciences, math, computer science, and physics.
Twenty teams from nine north-state schools competed in this year's competition. Chico was the winning team and will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C., to participate in the National Competition, scheduled May 1 - 6, 2008.
Contributing sponsors of the Regional Science Bowl include: Simpson University, North Valley Bank, City of Shasta Lake, CH2M Hill, Coca-Cola, Skyway Machine Inc., Wallner Plumbing, Lassen Municipal Utility District, and Trinity Public Utility District.
