REU System Reliability
REU remains one of the most reliable electric utilities in the State of California. Based on data collected by Redding Electric Utility (REU) representing a five year comparison (2002-2007) average of three Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs) and two other Publicly Owned Utilities (POU’s), REU experienced 48.89 outage minutes per year as compared to 214.54 outage minutes per year for PG&E (statistics include major outages). Excluding major outages, REU’s average outage minutes over the five year reporting period was 27.53 minutes as compared to PG&E’s 175.52 minutes.
System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI)
Over the 2002-2007 period the average REU customer experienced approximately one outage every three years, while the average customer for PG&E over the same period experience almost 1 1/2 outages per year. Without including major events, REU had 0.292 outages as compared to PG&E’s 1.308 events during the same period.
Momentary Average Interruption Frequency Index (MAIFI)
REU experienced 0.47 momentary outages including major outages or events as compared to PG&E’s 1.74 outages. Without including major events, REU experienced .404 momentary outages as compared to 1.672 outages experienced by PG&E customers.
