Renewable Energy FAQs (CLICK HERE)

Redding Electric Utility (REU) is committed to providing our customers with the lowest-cost, most reliable power available, while at the same time we are also concerned about the environment and want to leave future generations with a cleaner, healthier environment! In order to accomplish this goal, we have recently contracted for wind power from the Pacific Northwest, biomass power from Northern California, and continue to invest in solar power throughout the Redding community.

Incorporating renewable energy into our power mix presents many challenges (see Renewable Energy Challenges) both in our ability to provide continuous reliable power due to its intermittent nature, and in being able to bring it home to our customers because some renewable energy sources are in remote locations.

Bottom line—REU is committed to green energy!
