How To Identify REU Field Employees
Uniforms - Redding Electric Utility Field Operations employees usually wear lime green/orange shirts and vest or coveralls with an REU logo. During cold weather when employees may be working away from traffic they may not be wearing a vest. They may be wearing a white hard hat with a City of Redding logo on the front of the hard hat centered on front just above the brim. The employee's last name will be on the hard hat positioned below the logo. They also are issued ball caps that are off white with a black bill. The ball cap will have a REU logo affixed to the front just above the bill.
ID Cards - Redding Electric Utility Field Operations employees are issued an identification card that has a picture of the employee on the front face of the card. If you are in doubt if the employee works for Redding Electric Utility, ask that they present their ID card.
Badges - Redding Electric Utility Field Operations employees do not wear or carry badges.
Vehicles
Color - Redding Electric Utility vehicles have historically been painted yellow. However, recently we have been converting to white for all new vehicles and phasing out the color yellow. We estimate that most all our vehicles will be white in color by the year 2010. This represents a significant savings in the original cost of our fleet. We have found that white vehicles also have a cleaner appearance and more importantly offer a greater degree of visibility during the hours of darkness.
Numbering - Redding Electric Utility vehicles can be identified by a three digit number that begins with the number 4. This includes all vehicles from pick-ups to heavy-duty trucks and some of our sedans. Vehicle numbers can be found on both doors and at the front and rear of the vehicle.
